WinCAP offers broadband service providers and their customers centralized multi-screen account and parental control management, with real-time authorization.

The system is integrated with GLDS’ Web-based self-care portal CableAnytime, so subscribers are able to manage their TV Everywhere access using the same credentials they use to view and pay their bill, order PPV, view VoIP usage and upgrade services. More

7/23/12 By Todd Spangler | Great Lakes Data Systems has launched a “TV Everywhere” extensions to its billing and subscriber management system for smaller operators.

The WinCAP solution is an extension of GLDS’s Web-based self-care portal CableAnytime and the WinCable billing platform. Several operators will use WinCAP to handle authentication for NBCUniversal’s 2012 Summer Olympic Games online video, including BELD Broadband, Cable Systems of Nevada, San Bruno Cable and Spencer Municipal Utilities.

Wireless broadband, social networking, mobile apps, cloud computing, handheld devices – they’re not just for consumers anymore. The exact same trends roiling the consumer market are having a profound effect on the way communications service providers (CSPs) conduct their business.

While executives and managers at CSPs are certainly making use of mobile technology, the area of their business most affected is customer service. Installers and technicians of all sorts are being equipped with new tools they happen to be already familiar with because they’ve been using them as consumers.

“Devices, the cloud and mobile Internet: These are major forces … that are driving the thinking and the choices our customers are making in the field and the back office,” said Yuval Brisker, CEO of TOA Technologies, a company that provides mobile workforce management systems.

The company’s WinCable in the Cloud is a cloud-based version of its billing, subscriber management and provisioning system. It’s designed to let operators manage these functions virtually via the Internet, without any hardware or infrastructure investment. More
