GLDS Brings Cloud Billing and Mobile Workforce Technologies to NCTA’s The Cable Show 2012
Company Demonstrates How Small and Medium Operators Can Leverage the Power of the Cloud and Mobile Devices to Roll Out Advanced TV Services, Quickly and Cost-effectively
Carlsbad, Calif. – May 16, 2012 – Great Lakes Data Systems, Inc. (GLDS), the leading provider of billing, subscriber management and provisioning systems for small-to-medium global broadband providers, today announced plans to demonstrate its cutting-edge cloud-based billing, subscriber management and provisioning system, and mobile workforce technologies at NCTA’s The Cable Show 2012, May 21-23 at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center.
“We are laser-focused on serving small to mid-sized operators by helping them face the enormous technical and economic challenges while remaining operationally and economically competitive. It’s vital that our technologies are ever evolving to meet consumer demands with cost-effective provisioning of ‘tier one’ advanced services, without the ‘tier one’ prices of the larger service bureaus,” according to GLDS’ President Garrick Russell. “GLDS was the first to enable smaller operators to cost-efficiently bill and manage converged services including digital video, IPTV, Internet and FTTH, and has partnered with more than 22 different industry voice vendors on more than 70 VoIP deployments to date. GLDS was also the first to help monetize IP-based VOD/OTT services, a project first revealed last year. In leveraging the cloud for billing and extending its reach into the field with a mobile workforce management app, we’re pleased to showcase two of the single biggest efficiency gains for our customers in the last five years at this year’s The Cable Show.”
In GLDS’ Booth #1458, the company is demonstrating WinCable® in the Cloud, a cloud-based version of its billing, subscriber management and provisioning system that lets operators manage these critical functions virtually via the Internet, without the need for any hardware or infrastructure investment. Quick time to market, and low systems maintenance overhead, is what drives the shift towards WinCable in the Cloud. With WinCable in the Cloud, operators have any-time access to GLDS’ flagship WinCable® subscriber management and billing system in a browser, or even in an ultra-light client, to bring WinCable’s lightning-fast response times to users via the Internet. It offers full data replication internally and off-site, redundant power, fiber optic data connection and hardware components to keep data secure and always available. More than 80 operator customers worldwide are now using WinCable in the Cloud to save significant time and money with anytime-access to GLDS’ flagship WinCable billing and subscriber management system.
Additionally in GLDS’ booth, the company is demonstrating its workforce management platform WinForce techTM, a full-featured workforce automation solution that allows operators to deliver work to the field on any Internet-enabled smartphone or tablet. WinForce tech lets field techs navigate to jobs, manage work and customer account information, refresh boxes and even run diagnostics, all from the field – without calls back to dispatch. It empowers field technicians to serve customers quickly and efficiently, letting operators do more with less, and improve customer service in the process.
WinForce tech will also be a featured App in The Cable Show’s The App Pond at Imagine Park. Designed in partnership with DIY Network, The App Pond is a showcase for newly developed applications that run over tablets, smartphones and other connected devices and features the best in cable’s mobile media, branded entertainment, lifestyle and educational applications that make content, communications and information more portable, engaging and productive.
